Critical Care Complete is a separate employer-paid optional benefit rider offered along with our group health and life insurance plans. Critical Care Complete helps employers ease the impact of cost shifting.
This critical illness product pays a fixed dollar payment in the event an insured is diagnosed with a specified critical illness. The coverage availability of the following critical illnesses will vary by State:
- Cancer in situ
- Life-threatening cancer
- Kidney failure
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Coma
- Major organ transplant
- Severe burn
If a covered person experiences more than one critical illness, more than one benefit will be paid. However, if a benefit has been paid for cancer in situ, the benefit available for a subsequent life-threatening cancer will be reduced by the first benefit amount paid.
Because expenses for these critical illnesses often accrue above and beyond doctor and hospital bills, critical illness coverage benefits can be used to pay additional, related costs, such as childcare, travel and lodging or for experimental treatments, co-pays and deductibles, and other costs that medical insurance doesn't cover.
